Covering a models eyebrows for a desired effect can sometimes be daunting. Especially if you are working with some as thick as the model above. I'm here to tell you this is not an impossible feat. It does require patience and time.
Step 1. Make sure your model has a clean face. Avoid putting any moisturizer around or on their eyebrows.
Step 2. Liberally apply a fixative. You can use spirit gum, A fixative made for eyebrow coverage or GLUE! Yes, I have seen great results from a glue stick. This is usually an effective method for drag queen makeup. In the photo above I used spirit gum.
Step 3. Use a brush or spatula to flatten the brows against the skin. Wait until completely dry.
Step 4. Apply wax with a spatula. You want to get the wax warm and pliable before use. I recommend rolling your wax around in your hands, your body heat will do the trick. Next smooth out the wax over the eyebrow. You want a thin but completely covered layer with no cracks, dents or bubbles.
Step 5. Apply another thin layer of spirit gum over the waxed brow. Always wait until its totally dry. You can use a fan or blow dryer on cool to speed this process up.
Step 6. Now for the foundation. If the eyebrows are particularly dark you want to use a blue neutralizer. Basically and orange toned cover up. This will be your foundation base.
Step 7. Now use a cover up that will blend with the models skin tone. You can go lighter if you want. This will make a highlighted brow bone.
Step 8. POWDER! Make sure not to over do it. All you need is a thin layer to set your foundation. The key is to make it look as natural as possible. Cut down on that cakey factor where ever you can.
Step 9. You are ready to Draw on your eyebrows. This is the creative and fun part. Eyebrows frame the face. I chose to make a 1920's brow. Thin and slants downwards making a "sad eye".
Step 10. You are ready for for eyeshadow! Go nuts and have fun with this. Anything goes.
I want to show you an example of a model with light, thin brows. With her I did a quick cover up only using wax and foundation. This took less than 10 min.
With some patience and time you can achieve and perfect this look!
